Dr Dan Siegel
I am a huge fan of Dr. Dan Siegel, a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute. He coined the term ‘name it to tame it’, which summarises a huge body of neuropsychological research.
Basically, if we can name or identify our emotions, we become more able to contain and regulate them – what we know, we can manage. He uses easy to understand language like ‘upstairs’ and ‘downstairs’ brain which make the complexity of our brains so much more accessible. The insights in this talk can be used with adults and children alike. I hope you find it useful.
