Depression: When Strength Feels Heavy

‘Movember’ is a global charity movement that takes place in November to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health and suicide prevention. So I thought it prudent to share something that often flies beneath the radar – depression in men.
Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. For many men, it hides behind irritation, silence, or the drive to “just keep going.” Society still teaches men to be strong, to fix things rather than feel them, but that same strength can turn into isolation when you’re struggling.
Recognising how depression can show up differently in men helps break the silence — and reminds us that reaching out is not weakness, it’s wisdom.
